The People’s Liberation Army has successfully sunk a US aircraft carrier, according to a satellite photo provided by Google Earth, reports our sister paper Want Daily — though the strike was a war game, the carrier a mock-up platform and the “sinking” occurred on dry land in a remote part of western China.

An oil sheen about four miles long has appeared in the Gulf of Mexico near the site of the worst oil spill in U.S. history, a Coast Guard spokesman said Thursday.
It was not immediately clear where the oil is coming from, said Petty Officer 3rd Class Ryan Tippets.

LONGMONT, Colo. (AP) — Satellite image provider DigitalGlobe Inc. has released photos that it says show Syrian army tanks and other armored vehicles in the city of Homs.
DigitalGlobe says the images were taken Friday in the late morning Syrian time.
Stephen Wood, director of DigitalGlobe’s analysis center, says some of the photos show armored vehicles near apartment buildings.

Dec. 8: Satellite image shows the Chinese aircraft carrier Varyag sailing in the Yellow Sea.
DENVER – DigitalGlobe Inc., a commercial satellite company, said Wednesday that it took a photograph of China’s first aircraft carrier during a sea trial in the Yellow Sea, off the Chinese coast.

LIBERTY COUNTY — Liberty County sheriff’s deputies are on the scene of a home in Hardin where a tipster told them 25-30 bodies are buried.
The house is located at near the intersection of County Roads 2048 and 2049.
