Why is Coastal Flooding ongoing, over 30 days now, in Florida?

I have lived in South Florida all of my life. Never has a storm, not even Category 5 Hurricane Andrew, harmed the beachfront. Look at Fort Lauderdale now! Superstorm Sandy didn’t even come near us! Is this the beginning of Sea Level Rise? Fort Lauderdale beach no longer even exists! Waves are crashing against the roadway. It you don’t know what it looked like before, Google: Fort Lauderdale Beach image.

DOOM ALERT: Sea Level Rise Accelerating For US East, Fastest Rise in The World!

breaking

The Coast is sinking!

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — This summer the North Carolina Senate passed a bill banning researchers from reporting predicted increases in the rate of sea level rise. But the ocean, unbound by legislation, is rising anyway — and in North Carolina this rise is accelerating, researchers reported here yesterday (Nov. 6) at the annual meeting of the Geological Society of America.

CLAIM: Rising sea levels cannot be stopped over the next several hundred years but deep emissions cuts can help slow rise

* Sea rise due to thermal expansion will go on for centuries

* Deep emissions cuts can help slow rise

By Nina Chestney

LONDON, July 1 (Reuters) – Rising sea levels cannot be stopped over the next several hundred years, even if deep emissions cuts lower global average temperatures, but they can be slowed down, climate scientists said in a study on Sunday.

A lot of climate research shows that rising greenhouse gas emissions are [...]

South Florida will be swallowed by the sea in 100 years if ocean levels continue to rise, experts warn

Rising sea levels could swallow much of Southern Florida in the next century, experts have warned.

Scientists attending a conference on climate change last week told how Florida is more vulnerable than anywhere else in the country.

‘Forty percent of the nation’s sea level rise risk is in Florida,’ Ben Strauss, chief operating officer of Climate Central, said.

Warning: A sunset in Islamorada, Florida Keys, which could become submerged by water in the [...]

New sea level in CA: Six inches by 2030

If greenhouse-gas emissions continue unabated, the expected additional warming could raise sea levels by up to four or five feet all along the US West Coast by 2100, according to an analysis released Friday by the National Research Council (NRC).

Beyond any real estate permanently inundated, such an increase would bring some $100 billion worth of facilities that currently are high and dry into a new 100-year flood plain, according to previous [...]

‘The worst case we imagined is not coming true’: Greenland’s glaciers are melting less quickly than experts feared

Worst case scenario of 19-inch sea level rise not coming true
Loss of ice 30% faster than a decade ago
Contribution to sea level rise will be four inches by 2100

Greenland’s glaciers are losing ice – but not at the breakneck pace that scientists once feared, a new study says.

The loss of ice from the glaciers that cover the island is still about 30% faster than it was a decade ago, researchers [...]

The United States of Atlantis? Four MILLION Americans at serious risk from flooding due to rapidly rising sea levels

Four million Americans could be at risk from flooding due to rising sea levels, scientists warned today.

Researchers found people occupying a combined area larger than the state of Maryland could be at risk from a rise of just one metre – the projected sea level rise by the year 2100 made by many scientists and computer models.

Two new studies claim the risk is far greater than previously thought.

Greenland Faces Crisis

http://www.thestatecolumn.com/scienc…facing-crisis/

A new study released Friday finds that Greenland has risen in recent years as the rate of ice melting has increased, a startling revelation that scientists attribute to global warming.

Speaking at a conference on Friday, a team of scientists from Ohio State University said a network of 50 GPS stations measured the uplift as the ice loss, noting that the rate of ice loss has accelerated in southern Greenland by [...]

REPORT: Climate change ‘researchers’ caught padding sea level data

Is climate change raising sea levels, as Al Gore has argued — or are climate scientists doctoring the data?

The University of Colorado’s Sea Level Research Group decided in May to add 0.3 millimeters — or about the thickness of a fingernail — every year to its actual measurements of sea levels, sparking criticism from experts who called it an attempt to exaggerate the effects of global warming.

“Gatekeepers [...]

Warning: Ocean could be nearly ice free in summers within 30 to 40 years

(Reuters) – Quickening climate change in the Arctic including a thaw of Greenland’s ice could raise world sea levels by up to 1.6 meters by 2100, an international report showed on Tuesday.

Such a rise — above most past scientific estimates — would add to threats to coasts from Bangladesh to Florida, low-lying Pacific islands and cities from London to Shanghai. It would also, for instance, raise costs of building tsunami [...]

657 New Islands Discovered Worldwide

Here’s something you don’t see every day — hundreds of new islands have been discovered around the world.

The Earth has 657 more barrier islands than previously thought, according to a new global survey by researchers from Duke University and Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C.

The researchers identified a total of 2,149 barrier islands worldwide using satellite images, topographical maps and navigational charts. The new total is significantly higher [...]
