Federal tax rates at lowest level in 30 years

WASHINGTON — Americans paid the lowest tax rates in 30 years to the federal government in 2009, partly because of tax cuts President Barack Obama sought to combat the Great Recession, congressional budget analysts said Tuesday.

TSA agent arrested for stealing iPads out of luggage

A Transportation Security Administration baggage inspector at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport has been indicted in the theft of Apple iPads from luggage over eight months.

Clayton Keith Dovel, 36, of Bedford was arrested Feb. 1 and has been suspended indefinitely, officials said.

The investigation led to the recovery of eight stolen iPads, including one that was among Dovel’s possessions at Terminal E when he was arrested, airport police said.

Cash-strapped school district proposes charging to ride bus

Parents with kids in the Keller Independent School District may have to pay for their kids to ride the bus this fall.

The cost hasn’t been set yet, but officials with the district said it could cost up to $360 per year, per student, to ride the bus.

The ISD cut regular bus transportation from its budget, saving $2 million.

Dallas-Fort Worth hit by ‘biggest storm in years’

FORT WORTH — Three rounds of storms swept through North Texas on Tuesday night, producing rain, hail, high wind and unconfirmed reports of tornadoes.
