Discussion of people fleeing New York City in part because of high income tax rates has mostly focused on high-powered conservative commentators and billionaire hedge-fund managers. Glenn Beck [...]

Most teachers exchange security for salary increases

When offered raises of up to $20,000 in exchange for giving up some collective bargaining rights, four out of five “highly effective” teachers in D.C. took the cash.

More of the top-rated teachers eligible for bonuses took them this year than in 2010, when 40 percent declined the awards to keep some job guarantees.

“People realize this is actually happening, we’re really going to pay them and [...]

State budget shortfalls will bring a raft of cuts to America’s public schools

IN 1783 Noah Webster, a schoolteacher, published the first edition of his American spelling book. It would become a standard text in classrooms around the country, selling 60m copies over the course of the next century. Webster’s view was that the new country deserved its own approach to English, more accessible than the version it had inherited. For Webster and his followers, literacy was a [...]

The US Education System is a complete joke.

The teachers union is one of the biggest lobbying forces. However their focus is not on education but on teacher compensation. The schools are not focused on what to teach kids nor what they need to learn. They are given guidelines by the state education system that are out of touch with reality. They are told to teach kids from other countries who can’t even speak a word of english [...]

Only 9% believe we are in a Depression, the other 91% in some way shape or form believe the hype.

The perception that the economy is likely slowing down again is leading consumers to tighten their belts and keep their wallets and purses closed.

Yet the government is still spending money like a bunch of drunken sailors. Bush Stimulus I ( mailing people money), Obama’s New deal 800 Billion dollar stimulus. Obama’s quiet teachers union bailout, Now Obama’s 50 billion dollar “infrastructure” Stimulus 4. We paid people to destroy cars, we [...]
