Yellowstone’s Volcano Bigger Than Thought
Yellowstone’s underground volcanic plumbing is bigger and better connected than scientists thought, geologists reported this week at the Seismological Society of America’s annual meeting.
“We are getting a much better understanding of the volcanic system of Yellowstone,” said Jamie Farrell, a seismology graduate student at the University of Utah. “The magma reservoir is at least 50 percent larger than previously imaged.”

Are we heading towards an Economic Collapse? Preparing for Financial Armageddon
Our county sits at over 16 trillion dollars in debt, with unfunded obligations that make the actual debt number about $120 trillion. The reality of the situation is there’s really no way out of the situation. Our government, thanks to both political parties, has spent us into a hole that we cannot dig ourselves out of. The facts, that nobody [...]
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A new screening device is about to hit the market, and it may be able to detect breast cancer earlier and more easily.
As CBS 2’s Kristine Johnson reported Wednesday, it is a cancer-detecting bra, and new technology that can help save women’s lives.
Twenty years ago, Nedra Lindsay agreed to be part of a medical trial.

The media conglomerates and political machine have their agenda, and it’s not to tell you the truth.
There are a lot of statistics being spewed about gun violence in America, much of them coming from purportedly credible news sources watched by millions of misinformed Americans.
Do you want to know what’s really happening – where we find the highest levels of violent crime, gun violence, and the underlying causes?
The XX Committee: Do the Swiss know something the rest of us don’t?
Ueli Maurer, the Swiss defense minister, has been making coy statements about the European crisis getting ugly – as in really ugly, like needing armed troops to deal with it. This sounds more like Greece, where the rioting is regular and increasingly scary, than anything in Central Europe, but where the whole EU furball is headed does seem less than clear [...]
From the outside, its shiny windows and soaring towers make it look decidedly futuristic and luxurious.
But after visitors walk through the doors of North Korea’s Ryugyong Hotel – which has taken twenty years to build – they see it is just a concrete shell.
The interior of the 105-story, pyramid-shaped resembles a multi-storey car park, with its concrete floors and bare columns.
A glittering shell: The futuristic hotel has been languishing in [...]
How can one combine professional life with the advancement of liberty? Of course it is presumptuous to offer a definitive answer since all jobs and careers in the market economy are subject to the forces of the division of labor. Because a person focuses on one task doesn’t mean that he or she isn’t great at many tasks; it means only that the highest productive gains for everyone come [...]

Sara Weaver has forgiven the people responsible for murdering her mother Vicki and younger brother Samuel twenty years ago. Lon Horiuchi, the FBI sniper who shot Vicki in the head while she was holding a ten-month-old infant, is still being sheltered by the Regime that employed him. If he were any part of a man, Horiuchi would make a pilgrimage to Sara’s home in Montana to [...]
“I have committed fraud. For this I feel constant and intense guilt…
The forgeries started nearly twenty years ago…
Should I go out of business or cheat…
I guess my ego was too big to admit failure…”

What would it be like if you could go back in time and talk to a younger version of yourself? Filmmaker and actor Jeremiah McDonald got to experience that process — in a way — thanks to a video tape he made for his future self back in 1992.
Twenty years later, McDonald cut together an interview combining footage of himself in 1992 (at age 12) and in 2012 (age 32).
The Trajectory of Empires (February 29, 2012)
“…The production of wealth in any society depends on a feedback loop in which a portion of each year’s production becomes part of the capital needed to produce wealth in future years, and another portion of each year’s production – a substantial one – goes to meet the maintenance costs of existing productive capital. In theory, an empire could keep its exactions at a level [...]

Twenty years ago free-range eggs were rarely bought but for the first time this year they will outsell those from caged birds, according to industry estimates.
Of the 9 billion eggs laid in the UK in 2012, 49 per cent will come from free-range hens allowed to roam outdoors, compared with 48 per cent from hens cooped up in cages. A further 3 per cent come from [...]
Romney paid less because the tax rate on “using money to make money” is less than the tax rate on using “labor the make money”.
It seems morally reprehensible but nothing he did was illegal, which is part of the problem.
In addition to Romney’s incredible record of flip-flopping again and again on so many issues, he has the very real problem of explaining how it’s okay for him to make millions by [...]
From Eric Peters Autos:
Is it once very 3,000 – or once every 10,000?
The articles one finds online try very hard to be definitive – which is why they’re often inaccurate. For example, I recently came across an article that stated with the certainty of the Dear Leader that “savvy car owners know that changing the oil on their vehicle every 3,000 miles is overkill and a waste of money.”
And also [...]
Special Report: In Europe’s Squeezed Middle, Life Gets Tougher (November 22, 2011)
“Like thousands of other young qualified Greeks, George has started to think his family should pack up for good and leave – possibly for Australia.
“‘If we go it will be for twenty years,’ he says as he holds 7-month-old Dimitris, babbling happily in his arms. ‘It’s a big decision.’
“Georgia’s mother, who is preparing lunch for the baby, shakes her head at [...]
Last week, the Washington Post attacked Marco Rubio for “misrepresenting” his family’s story. The Post got called out by other newspapers for the Post’s egregious truth stretching to make its story fit. In the quotes the WashingtonPost cited, the reporter misrepresented the context of Marco Rubio’s remarks. It was true that Rubio had gotten some details wrong. But it was also very clear that they were the innocent mistakes of a son retelling his [...]
My husband and I are both in our forties and both of us have worked since the age of 16.
My husband lost his job as a mgr for a company after working his way up in that company from a driver. He was loyal to that company for twenty years, he was let go because they were able to replace him with someone very young at half [...]
Is America ready to make history by electing the first black president to replace a black president?
That is the question latest polls increasingly raise these days that show Herman Cain jetting to the front of the GOP pack.
Not since the nomination of Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court has a black conservative so disrupted the order of things at the highest levels here in Washington.
Who could forget the blood-thirsty [...]
House prices: average deposit now £66,000
Research from bank first direct found that the average deposit has leapt from £6,600 to £66,000 since 1990 due to increasing house prices, and a reduction in mortgage levels. The average household income has risen 2.3 times in the same period, meaning that people must save for far longer to buy a home.

In June of this year we published our first on the ground report from Greece provided to us by long-time SHTFplan.com contributor Manos.
As Greece continues to deteriorate it is no doubt foreshadowing what’s to come for the rest of the world’s developed nations in the near future, Manos is keeping us updated and he is very concerned about the future of his country, as well as the [...]
Chinese Power Companies Need A Bailout Or Permission To Raise Electrity Prices
Read more: http://www.businessinsider.com/#ixzz1TryPBufx
China’s power companies are hemorrhaging cash, losing $2.3 billion in the first half of the year compared to $1.4 billion in the same period last year.
Coal prices have increased around 80% since 2007, while electricity prices have been allowed to rise only 15%.
Power companies need permission to raise prices or they need a bailout. Roughly [...]
I wish I could have interjected right around the time Bernanke said this:
“My definition of the dollar is what it can buy. Consumers don’t want to buy gold. They want to buy food and gasoline and clothes and all the other things that are in the consumer basket.”
“So by your own very definition, the dollar is losing value because all those items are going up in [...]
I think we are in a, “Dead Cat Bounce” if this market goes up.
Technically we are in a deep recession (depression). Most of the jobs that disappeared will never come back. Many of these industries and companies that made the huge layoffs have either closed up, or downsized, or moved their operations to Asia or some other low labor cost country. The only way there will be a recovery is [...]
After twenty years of house payments my wife and I toasted our new freedom of no house payments. The next day we received property taxes “due and payable!” They amount to $5,400 a year for a small log home. Now I ask you, who owns that property? Anyone who can take it for non-payment, that’s who owns IT and anything else that is taxable. So our land lord is the [...]
