The UC Davis officer accused of pepper spraying 11 student protesters in November no longer works on the police force.
Spokesperson for the UC Davis Chancellor Barry Shiller said John Pike’s employment ended on July 31, 2012.
Shiller released the following statement:
Consistent with privacy guidelines established in state law and University policy, I can confirm that John Pike’s employment with the University ended on July 31, 2012. I’m unable [...]

The establishment is desperate to downplay attendance figures at Ron Paul’s rallies. In order to do this, it enlists the help of the corporate media, including local media.
The first video below reports that more than 5,000 people attended a rally at UC Davis rally, but a local television station claimed only a couple hundred showed up. The photos included in the first video below tell the truth.
Telling lies [...]

Campus spies. Pepper spray. SWAT teams. Twitter trackers. Biometrics. Student security consultants. Professors of homeland security studies. Welcome to Repress U, class of 2012.
Since 9/11, the homeland security state has come to campus just as it has come to America’s towns and cities, its places of work and its houses of worship, its public space and its cyberspace. But the age of (in)security had announced its [...]
Pepper spray has entered the public discourse rapidly since the horrific use of it at UC Davis last week. It has prompted hand-wringing and serious discussion about police overreach. But it’s also entered pop culture, with a point.

Kelly [...]
UPDATE: Last night, UC Davis chancellor forced to walk through 3 block long line of students, sitting peacefully, glaring at her in silence. Brilliant. This is what democracy looks like. (I believe the video is from this person.)
CBS is reporting that:
Two UC Davis police officers have been placed on administrative leave following their use of pepper spray in Friday’s arrest of protesters.
NYT’s Brian Stelter tweets more:
UC Davis update: 2 cops suspended, [...]
University police tore down tents at UC Davis yesterday afternoon, arresting 8 students in the process, Xeni Jardin of Boing Boing reports.
At one point, to clear a path to reach students that they had already arrested, they pepper-sprayed a line of seated, quiet protesters.
This video, which shows the pepper-spraying, is going viral. This comment, from venture capitalist Chris Sacca, sums up what lots of people who watch it are thinking:
Seriously. Right now. [...]
