How Obama is blocking out reporters and wrapping himself in a bubble so he can exercise ultimate control of his public image over social media

A photo of the Obamas hugging that was released on Election Day 2012 has become the world’s most popular tweet on Twitter.

A dressed-up version of Barack Obama’s State of the Union speech, packed with charts and graphs, is huge on YouTube. A playful picture of the president cavorting with a 3-year-old in a Spiderman costume is a favorite online.

It’s all courtesy of the Obama image machine, serving up a stream [...]

Man fights city to grow vegetables in yard

ORLANDO, Fla. -

An Orlando man is fighting city officials to keep his vegetable garden in his front yard.

You have to step over radishes, wax beans and kale to get to Jason Helvingston’s front door in College Park.

However, his 25 x 25 foot micro-irrigated vegetable garden is against city code, and the city of Orlando has asked Helvingston to dig it up by Wednesday.

“I said, ‘You’ll take my house before you [...]

Schools consider ‘trash-cams’ to monitor vegetables thrown away by students

TAVARES, Fla. -

Lake County School Board officials are considering attaching cameras to school cafeteria trash cans to study what students are tossing after officials found that most of the vegetables on the school menu end up in the trash can.

New federal laws require students to take a healthy produce at lunchtime, but last year in Lake County, students tossed $75,000 worth of produce in the garbage.

“It’s a big issue, and [...]

School Website Provides Links to Information on how Children can Sexually Experiment with Vegetables

TORONTO - An astounding link on the Toronto District School Board website which entices children to experiment sexually with vegetables has a Christian group calling for a criminal investigation.

It has a lot of others vexed, perplexed and scratching their heads. Who is behind the school board’s curtain pulling these curious strings?

In the interest of protecting children, an outraged Dr. Charles McVety, president of Canada Christian College, has written Attorney General John Gerretsen and [...]

North Korea Reportedly Using Sexy Waitresses In Foreign Restaurants As Spies

One increasingly common feature in many cities is the North Korean restaurant, where diners can sample the delights of cuisine from the hermit state without an expensive and difficult journey.

The Economist describes North Korean food as “a variety of cold noodles, steamed vegetables, pickled cabbage”, and the (usually state-financed) restaurants serve as a “subtle propaganda arm for the North Korean government, and presumably earns valuable hard currency to be shipped back [...]

PARIS (AP) — French President Nicolas Sarkozy says his youngest son was out of line when he and friends pelted a policewoman with “vegetables” but says there’s always the risk that kids will be kids when left unattended.

In recent days, French media have reported that 15-year-old Louis Sarkozy and friends at the presidential palace threw tomatoes and wadded paper balls at the on-duty officer on March 8.

In an offbeat TV [...]

Democrats In California Declare War On Farmers

Politics: To leftist food scolds, eating more vegetables is important. So why are California’s two Democratic senators having a cow about a water bill that would let their Central Valley’s farmers grow more veggies?

House Republican Devin Nunes’ Sacramento-San Joaquin Valley Water Relief Act (H.R. 1837), which passed easily in the House last week, was the first standalone bill to address the persistent problem of arbitrary state decisions to deny water [...]

You are about to read about a 3 year old girl named Amelia that was denied a kidney transplant because she is considered to be “mentally retarded”.  The doctor that made this decision felt as though Amelia would not have a good enough “quality of life” to justify the procedure.  Unfortunately, this is yet another example of eugenics in action and this is the kind of thing that [...]

Greeks go back to the land

“People are coming back to farms around here that they abandoned years ago so they can grow potatoes, cabbages and vegetables to help them survive the crisis,” says Petros Citouzouris, as he pruned his vines high in the mountains of Naxos, the largest island in the Cyclades. The financial catastrophe in Greece is engulfing the most isolated parts of the country.”

Well I live in one of the continually listed 10 worst cities in America. It was bad enough before 2008, but now?

Feels like 1/3 of downtown is deserted. The streets have potholes that can pop your tires or bust up the suspension. Fire, police and paramedics have been cut. You get propositioned by hookers when coming out of stores at mid day, while her pimp looks at you from across the street in a tinted out BMW or Mercedes.

Any jobs are located 1+ hours away and those [...]

High Costs to Start Farming Only for Conventional Farming

These high cost to start farming articles describe conventional (chemical) commodity farming.  Not the farming we need anymore of.

If you can afford a small house in town, then you can afford a small house in the country with enough acres to start raising vegetables, flowers, cattle, chickens, etc for little more than the cost of the land.

In Cody Holmes’ book Ranching Fulltime on 3 Hours a [...]

Storm Preps

Like 65 million other people, the 5 people in my family are facing a pretty good blow.  As luck would have it the latest storm track has the eye pretty much passing over our house.  Of course, that will probably change, and there really won’t be an eye by the time it gets this far inland, but all the same, whatever this storm has left is [...]

Buy Food!

Buy Food!
Chris Mayer http://www.dailyreckoning.com.au/buy-food/2011/06/23/

A headline caught my eye last week, beyond all the ink spent on European debt woes. It read, “Hungry China Shops in Argentina.” China already buys most of Argentina’s soybean exports. And now China’s largest farming company is trying to lock down acreage for more soybeans. It also unveiled a plan to grow wheat, corn, vegetables, fruit and even wine – all [...]

Pork price hits record high in China: State media

BEIJING – THE price of pork, a staple of the Chinese diet, hit a new high in China this month due to rising costs and short supply, state media said on Tuesday, amid persistent concerns about soaring inflation.

Chinese inflation to ease: government

(Reuters) – China’s inflation will fall slightly in the second half of 2011, but it will be tough to keep the full-year rise in consumer prices below the government’s 4 percent ceiling, an official said in remarks reported on Sunday.

Xu Lianzhong, a director at the National Development and Reform Commission, said China still faced serious inflationary pressure as rising production costs were pushing up the [...]

Here are our seven Thanksgiving decoration ideas

by tarpless-tarpedo

Thanksgiving is upon us. Suddenly you think of turkey, sweet potatoes, apple pie, corn on the cob and salad – the food, the parties do with thanksgiving. Some parents suddenly decided to make Thanksgiving a list of things you buy and you should say to the party and throw your family and friends. In fact it feels so enthusiastic.

It should not be for the [...]
