1 TRILLION DOLLAR Farm Bill Is Corporate Welfare On Steroids

This year’s Farm Bill calls for spending of $955 billion over 10 years and is 1,150 pages long.

And yes, some of that nearly $1 trillion does go to programs that help farmers. But not much of it.

Nearly 80% goes to fund the food stamp program, otherwise known by the more politically correct name of “Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program” (SNAP) it was given in 2008.

Yet what’s most appalling about Farm Bill [...]

CHINA UNLEASHED: THE SLEEPING GIANT AWAKES

Little noticed during last weekend’s milestone summit between Barack Obama and Xi Jinping was another landmark event: China’s currency hit a record high, reaching almost 6 yuan to the dollar.

In recent years, one of the few things Republicans and Democrats could agree upon was that an artificially cheap yuan damaged U.S. exports and stole U.S. jobs. The currency’s climb thus seemed like a nod from China’s president to America’s, a quiet signal that [...]

More Red Flags Indicate That We’re Headed for Slowdown

Rail Traffic Continues To Soften

This week’s rail traffic reading showed modest improvement over recent weeks, but the longer-term trend remains negative.  Intermodal traffic was up 3.9% this week which was an improvement over last week’s reading of 2.8%.  The data, however, continues to soften on a rolling 3 month basis with the latest reading coming in at 3%.  That’s the lowest level since January.  The good news is we’re not [...]

by Phoenix Capital Research

In the second half of 2012, the media, Federal Reserve, and various Governmental economic bean counters engaged in what we call Great Global Rigging of 2012 in an effort to make the US economy look better to help the Obama campaign re-election bid.

Now that the election is over, the ugly economic realities have begun to creep out from where they were swept under the rug. And while [...]

Food Sickens Millions as Company-Paid Checks Find It Safe

William Beach loved cantaloupe — so much so that starting in June last year he ate it almost every day. By August, the 87-year-old retired tractor mechanic from Mustang,Oklahoma, was complaining to his family that he was fatigued, with pain everywhere in his body.

On Sept. 1, 2011, Beach got out of bed in the middle of the night, put his clothes on and walked into the living room. His wife, [...]

Wal-Mart struggling to survive on only $4 billion for Q2

Donna Anderson
Infowars.com
September 10, 2012

We’ve all seen the tweets about the checkout lines at Wal-mart: “Walmart usually uses 4 checkouts. Unless it’s really busy then they use 1.” Inevitably, you always end up in the slowest line, behind the woman who waits until her groceries are all rung up before she starts digging in her handbag for her fossilized checkbook. Are you thinking there ought to be an app for that? [...]

Three potential dividend values to consider in today’s “expensive” market

From Dividend Mantra:

… The DJIA is up over 1,000 points over just the last two months. At the beginning of June, the Dow Jones was sitting just above 12,000. As of this past Friday, the DJIA closed at 13,208. That’s quite a climb, and if you missed the occasional dip due to eurozone concerns or stories of slowing growth you now find yourself in the precarious position of sitting on some [...]

The service has said for months it couldn’t afford the payment, which was initially due last September, nor a $5.6 billion payment required by Sept. 30 for this year. Postal [...]

This comment from Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has been making the rounds on blogs and newswires the past few days.

by Boca Joe

It says it all about the state of the tepid U.S. recovery.

Bill Simon, CEO of Wal-Mart’s U.S. business, at a Goldman Sachs conference last week, on behavior at a Walmart store around midnight at the end of a month:

“The paycheck cycle we’ve talked about before remains extreme. It is our responsibility to figure out how to sell in that environment, adjusting pack sizes, large pack at sizes the [...]

One of the most wasteful things I have ever read, especially the “justification” for doing it.

All stores have perpetual inventory systems on “in and out” transactions by ITEM/SIZE/COLOR, etc. No need to “tag” with radio the individual item – it’s in your inventory system. Unless of course there is another reason for doing it – this is the whole point of “POP” scan systems – to track the inventory:

As long as the 2.5 billion middle class consumer base is growing by 10′s of millions per year, companies like Apple will do well on fundamentals.

58% of earnings came from international sources and the U.S. is becoming less and less a consumer base for these types of companies. The drop of 20% of our consumers due to unemployment or underemployment has been mostly replaced by the growth of the international consumer. With wages in China, the largest consumer of many electronic goods, rising 20% in just the last few months, we can look for emerging [...]
