The Floodgates Have Opened: Is There Anyone Left Who Has Not Sexually Mistreated Women? Will It Ever Stop? Are We Going To Go Too Far?

By Robert Carbery

Sunday night, I watched Ian Bremmer on Charlie Rose’s show discussing the goings-on around the world on his one-of-a-kind all-black background television set. Little did I know that that was likely Rose’s last show of his famed career.

There seems to be a new revelation each and every morning these days. A new grotesque story about a man with power and influence taking advantage of a vulnerable woman. After Harvey Weinstein’s story finally came to light and opened us up to the true underbelly of Hollywood’s predators, we have heard the unbelievably tragic and heartbreaking stories, then subsequent downfalls of Kevin Spacey, Jeffrey Tambor, Mark Halperin, Sen. Al Franken, possible Sen. Roy Moore, Russell Simmons, Brett Ratner, New York Times columnist Glenn Thrush and now, the paragon of journalism and the one-on-one sober interview, Charlie Rose.

PBS and CBS News have suspended Charlie Rose following the sexual harassment allegations from at least eight women in the workplace. Rose’s show has been suspended on PBS and future airings cancelled. CBS also announced he would be suspended from its network following the allegations. Rose is also a co-host on “CBS This Morning” and a correspondent on “60 Minutes.”

A video is making the rounds of Rose groping his “CBS This Morning” co-host Norah O’Donnell on-air.

Major figures in media, entertainment, and politics are being taken down left and right lately. Monday morning followed the same pattern. Another day another allegation of sexual harassment… anything from a grope to an unwanted kiss to full on rape. It is truly disgusting how some men view women as something to use then throw away. This gives me little faith in humanity though gives me a glimmer of hope we may finally be turning a corner, no longer remaining silent.

Earlier Monday before the Rose reveal, the New York Times stated that it would suspend its White House correspondent Glenn Thrush after reports that he harassed and propositioned some female reporters while he was at Politico and also at the Times, the supposed utmost politically correct news institution in the country.

But what really saddens me is the Washington Post’s report accusing the legendary broadcast journalist, Rose, of more pitiful sexual acts. The stories include not only lewd phone calls, but also tales of him walking around naked in their presence, groping their breasts, butts or genitals. The string of harassment spans from the late 1990s up to 2011.

Here’s some of what Rose said in his rambling response: “In my 45 years in journalism, I have prided myself on being an advocate for the careers of the women with whom I have worked. Nevertheless, in the past few days, claims have been made about my behavior toward some former female colleagues.” There is appears to be an outright denial in what he says as he rambled on with a pitifully non apologetic statement to The Post and on Twitter.

He went on to state:

“It is essential that these women know I hear them and that I deeply apologize for my inappropriate behavior. I am greatly embarrassed. I have behaved insensitively at times, and I accept responsibility for that, though I do not believe that all of these allegations are accurate. I always felt that I was pursuing shared feelings, even though I now realize I was mistaken. I have learned a great deal as a result of these events, and I hope others will too. All of us, including me, are coming to a newer and deeper recognition of the pain caused by conduct in the past, and have come to a profound new respect for women and their lives.”

Well, he accepted responsibility, so that absolves him, right?

The floodgates are now open wide in the aftermath of Harvey. Weinstein, that is, not the hurricane. Though there does appear to be a torrential storm tearing apart powerful men at the apex of their careers. Sexual predators are being unveiled to us on a daily basis and it does not seem to be slowing down. In this current climate, in which women are finally being believed, four more accusers have come forward accusing former President Bill Clinton of sexual assault. Let’s hope he gets what’s comin to him soon.

When will the allegations slow to a trickle? When will we stop being horrified morning after morning about the disgusting predators in power? When will the accusers be telling a lie to bring someone down for political purposes? That is bound to happen if we continue on this current trajectory and possibly already has. But we need to get all of these grotesque individuals’ stories out in the open so we can find out who they truly are. You can never fully know who someone is… especially behind closed doors.

It’s time to drain the swamp of these animalistic creatures masquerading as men of any morals. We have no other choice.

  1. This all coming out at the same time smells of the media throwing out stories they knew about for years so they can keep something else that is going on out of the news.
Like Dossiergate. Or Uranium One. Or Mueller not finding a shred of valid evidence. Or newly released JFK files providing more evidence that the CIA and a certain “George Bush of the CIA” did it. Or worse, preparations for the next big false flag going on. They need to create some excuse if they want to attack North Korea and/or Iran and/or Russia.

  2. This sanctimonious hypocritical puke can go spend time with Halperin in
the dog house. The mendacious liberal house of cards is falling along
with all of their fake news networks.

  3. Rich and/or powerful Men do not have to do anything beyond being powerful and/or wealthy to get a 2 mile long line of women throwing themselves at them.
Any allegation more than a month or even two weeks old should be tossed in the BS pile.
Their careers made now they want to say something to give the appearance of self respect and dignity that they did not have when fawning all over, blowing, and fcking frequently to get any foot-hold into the entertainment industry.
Sure, they may have done it, maybe more than one time in their hotel room, in their home, in their office, and she came back for more, Why?!?!

  5. I guess ANY and ALL bimbos looking for lots of FREE MONEY can just open their pie hole and scream and get richly compensated. I am so tired of this I could scream. Just paying these bimbos off is NOT the answer….and asking men to keep their grubby hands to themselves (as well as their wayward members) won’t work either. It’s just human nature to want to touch or fondle someone’s arse or toots….and until women stop having arses and toots….this unwanted attention/abuse will NEVER end. Beam me up Scotty….this entire planet has gone whacked……
