The reason why tax credit for hiring won’t pass…

As a long-term small-business owner, I can tell you that younger workers are not NEARLY as productive or reliable as older workers and that tax incentives WILL cause more people to be hired than without such incentives.

Over the past couple of years I have noticed my company and many others depending on our older, more responsible workers more and more. The fact that I have people working for me that have been around in previous economic downturns and know just how hard we all have to work to keep the doors open has allowed my business to THRIVE during the past two difficult years. The younger folks have not been nearly as valuable to me and several have had to be let go so that I could reward my more productive employees.

I know that I have held off hiring more people in the last year because I was not sure that they would be entirely economically viable. A tax credit for hiring and salary increases is a brilliant idea that would cause me and other business owners toseriously consider expanding again–which is exactly why it will not pass. Our polititians are MUCH more concerned that the big bank executives get their bonuses than putting people back to work. The “little people” can make due with a few extra weeks of unemployment insurance.

Too bad that Americans are so content with the staus quo….
