The statistics never fail to amaze me.

Years ago I attended a show. Two guys were talking about their working life. One said: “I am bankrupt!”. “Great!” says the other. “Why is that great?”. “You now have infinite growing potential!”.

Is it really all a question of perspective? I do not think so. The spin on the statistics does not give honest numbers like: How many people are in the work force, how many people would like to have job? I retired but the housing bubble and the increase in real estate taxes is choking me. I would like to have a job but I do not show up in any kind of statistics. My wife lost her job but she decided to quit instead of being fired because that may look better on her resume. Again, she does not show up in any statistics.

Because of the miserable market for job seekers the employers do not even have the decency to interview people and they do not tell them why they are not hired. I am a beggar for a job. What a wonderful life! And then someone tries to tell me 500k plus people newly unemployed is a good number? What a farce! Long live unfettered and unscrupulous capitalism!

America needs to (re)learn that broad-based prosperity and growth don’t come from rooms like that…

As a nation we’ve become addicts to the false promises of opiate derived socialism and strong central governments. Success of the American model is in its decentralization. The diversity of ideas competing on a playing field leveled as much as possible by capitalism not tainted (or only minimally tainted) by the stench of politics…

If the government lacks the power to intervene in most arenas of business, it also lacks the power to corrupt and protect the elite few against competition. If government involvement with business were the exception - corruption would stick out like a sore thumb…

We should all look at rooms like that with the disgust and anger they deserve. The media should be ashamed of themselves for describing this process as if it has any hope but to further the monopolies on wealth creation to the politically connected…
