The US is the largest arms exporter in the world, responsible for 33% of arms exports across the planet.
This is a boon to the US arms industry, but not to the US economy. That’s because most of the money paid by other countries for US weapons was given to those countries by the US government in the form of ‘aid’. In other words, this is a means of funneling money from taxpayers into the military-industrial complex that then gives the weapons they produce to governments they favor. Top recipients are Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, and Iraq.
