US Defense Secretary Mattis Admits There Is No Evidence Assad Used Sarin Gas on Syrian People

by Chris Black

To put things into perspective, the situation in Syria is becoming alarmingly “hot”, and I am talking about a potential hot-war between Israel and Syria, which has a mutual defense pact with Iran. Let me explain: if you’re not Mr. Current Affairs, you should know that Israel attacked both Syrian and Iranian military targets on Syrian territory on Saturday, after claiming an Iranian made UAV (a drone basically) violated Israel’s airspace for one minute and half, before getting shot down by one of their attack helicopters. The drone was allegedly launched from a base in Syria; Israel’s response to the drone entering their airspace was to send  F16 aircraft to attack the drone-operators in Syria, along with various military targets.

Unfortunately for them, one F16 was shot down by Syrian air defense using an old Russian made S-200  SAM system.

Moreover:

“It’s a known fact that Israel’s airforce repeatedly violated Syria’s sovereign airspace in the past, launching unprovoked attacks on Syrian army targets, yet Assad’s strategy was to not respond to Israel’s provocations, or at least that was the situation for 7 long years of civil war, that until Saturday, when the Syrian air defense shot down an Israeli F16 fighter jet in the Golan border region. Israel did not provide detailed intel about its downed F16 fighter, except from admitting the respective military aircraft was conducting attacks on targets in Syria. Israel blamed Iran for the downing of their plane, by tweeting that “Iran is responsible for this severe violation of Israeli sovereignty.

Israeli airforce admitted striking targets inside Syria, thus violating the country’s sovereignty, at least one hundred times over the 7 years of conflict, and Syria protested many times before the United Nations, but to no avail. On the other hand, Iranian operatives are in Syria at the request of the Syrian government (just like the Russians). According to the Wall Street Journal, Israel secretly/covertly supported Al Qaeda linked groups in Syria, aid which consisted in weapons transfers and treatment of wounded soldiers/jihadists in Israeli hospitals, basically getting in bed with ISIS/Al Qaeda (sunni) terrorists in order to fight Iran (shia), which is a very dangerous game by any metrics.

And here’s the kicker: Defense Secretary Jim Mattis has (quietly) admitted that the United States has zero evidence with regard to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s alleged use of sarin gas against his own people. The mainstream media chose to basically ignore this crucial statement in their news cycle. However, Mad Dog Mattis went that extra mile and accused the Assad regie of another crime, i.e. that he used chlorine gas to attack civilians. However, no reporter bothered to ask him if there’s any evidence of that. Mattis’s admission that the US has no proof on Assad using nerve gas against civilians took place in the same day House Intelligence Committee’s  FISA memo was revealed to the American public and was mostly ignored by the MSM, even if AP reported on the issue on February 2. Here’s the quote:

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. has no evidence to confirm reports from aid groups and others that the Syrian government has used the deadly chemical sarin on its citizens, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said Friday.

“We have other reports from the battlefield from people who claim it’s been used,” Mattis told reporters at the Pentagon. “We do not have evidence of it.”

He said he was not rebutting the reports.

“We’re looking for evidence of it, since clearly we are dealing with the Assad regime that has used denial and deceit to hide their outlaw actions,” Mattis said. Mattis says it is clear that Assad’s government has weaponized and used chlorine gas in the Syrian civil war.

“We’re even more concerned about the possibility of sarin use,” he said. Sarin is a colorless and tasteless toxin that can cause respiratory failure leading to death.

Last April, the U.S. launched several dozen Tomahawk cruise missiles at a Syrian air base in response to what it called illegal Syrian use of chemical weapons. President Donald Trump said the attack was meant to deter further Syrian use of illegal weapons.”

You see what he did there? Mattis shifted the issue completely by accusing Assad of using chlorine gas against civilians “at some point” during the Syrian so-called civil war. And the use of nerve gas against Syrian “civilians” was (and is) crucial when it comes to Assad’s demonization by the MSM and Pentagon’s war-hawks.

Now, you would think this would be big news, but it has been virtually ignored by the MSM, and you can bet that neocon puppet Nikki Haley will continue to blame Assad and Russia for “gas attacks” inside Syria.  Mattis’ claim that Assad has “weaponized” chlorine gas is just as ridiculous. Chlorine gas is not an effective weapon. It was not effective in WW1 and it is not effective today. Why would Assad risk alienating his major ally – Putin – by using an ineffective gas agent on his own people? I don’t know about you, but I think another neocon-sparked war for Israel in the Middle East, this time with Iran, is not the best idea for a country 21 trillion dollars in debt. And the Donald believes the same:

  1. The “Syrians” being persecuted by Assad are ISIS;every news outlet connected to MSM, get ALL their info from opposition and jihadi sympathizers…they never talk to ordinary Syrians

    • If Mad Dog can tell us that Assad didn’t do it, maybe he can tell us who did? FAT CHANCE! Since when was a US government/military investigation ever honest? The worst scumbags on this planet are those who accuse others of what they themselves are doing!
