Why Doesn’t the Government Use Its Mass Surveillance to Bust the Big Criminals … the Banksters?

by WashingtonsBlog

If the Government Is Going to Spy … Why Doesn’t It Do Something Useful?

The big banks have committed massive crimes and manipulated virtually every market.

The failure to prosecute fraud is preventing a sustainable economic recovery.

As such, prosecuting Wall Street fraud is arguably an issue of national security.

The government is collecting everything … and spying on just about everything we do.  So why can’t it gather info on the crimes of the big banks … so we can prosecute them?

You might assume that spying is only used to stop terrorism.

But the government has – in fact – often invoked national security powers in regards to the financial system.  For example, Business Week reported on May 23, 2006:

President George W. Bush has bestowed on his intelligence czar, John Negroponte, broad authority, in the name of national security, to excuse publicly traded companies from their usual accounting and securities-disclosure obligations.

Reuters noted in 2010:

U.S. securities regulators originally treated the New York Federal Reserve’s bid to keep secret many of the details of the American International Group bailout like a request to protect matters of national security, according to emails obtained by Reuters.

This is especially true given that some of the biggest banks have been caught actively assisting terrorists.

Unfortunately, spying is being used to crush dissent … and specifically to protect the banks and targetthose who are trying to hold the banks accountable.

In answer to your naive question, “Why doesn’t the US Government use mass surveillance to bust banker crime?” – the US government IS Bankster crime. The US government IS indeed servicing who it is actually representing – it is the executive arm of the Corporate Crime Syndicate. The US government is in service to corporate, financial and political paymasters. These people have bought and paid for their influence to prevail OVER the American populace, which is now factory-farmed to serve these corporate interests. Time to dispense with this quaint notion that the US Government serves a representative citizenry. The very question reveals and contributes to the continuation of a immature attitude which keeps the country and its people a “slave nation on a slave planet”. Please resolve to stop assuming that the US Government is a force for good in the world. It is not. The rest of the planet understands this unequivocably. The rest of the world is intelligently isolating the US dollar and its brutal military for purposes of self-preservation. Reform of the US Crime Syndicate will not come from within – it will come from collapse of the US economic system, it’s currency, and consequentially, it’s military funding. This process is well along. It will be bad for US citizens, but it will be a positive for the rest of the world, who will untether themselves from a dying empire that can not longer compete on it’s own merits, but must use force to ensure compliance from it’s planetary brethren.
