A woman has been accused of telling a family that she was about to inherit a billion dollars before convincing them to lend her $46,000 so she could ‘collect it’.
Morgan Johnson, 24, from Fort Myers, Florida, allegedly forged bank documents and made up names for her fellow employees to cover the lie.
The single mother of one is now facing charges of fraud and grand theft after hatching the plan.
Last September, she told a family she had met through her grandparents that she was about to inherit six or seven businesses from a former employer.
She claimed the move would pay her at least $1 billion and that she would also receive a $20 million aircraft, the News Press reported.
But she said she needed money to pay for ‘emergencies’ that were going to prevent her payout, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.
They included repossession of her truck, a debt with a former landlord, a threatened foreclosure on her home and a child custody dispute.
