If it’s not completely clear to everyone at this point:
Central banks print billions and billions of dollars.
They buy shares or corporate debt.
Stocks rise.
Institutional investors follow suit.
Retail investors tag along.
As time goes on, there are fewer and fewer profitable trades, squeezing and narrowing the pathway. Eventually, only a handful of good buys remain. This is the peak of the cycle. What will be the linchpin? Interest rates is definitely one possibility.
