Kevin McCarthy has spent the last 6 years demonstrating personal loyalty to Trump while betraying the 2016 MAGA agenda, under the assumption that voters are stupid and being nice to Trump would be enough.
Well, Trump told everyone to vote for McCarthy today and he actually lost an additional vote (Victoria Spartz, who voted Present).
This shows you that popular loyalty to Trump the TV character internet troll is overrated.
What people wanted was his 2016 nationalist platform, and now that it’s clear they will never get it, to cause as much chaos in Washington as possible.
What is remarkable is that the full spectrum of conservative media — from Fox News to the retards at Newsmax — is begging people to support McCarthy.
They are being ignored.
Matt Gaetz is making a political gamble going against Trump and the entire Republican Party ecosystem based off a gut feeling: people want hard policy changes in the US Congress, and if they don’t get it, most won’t care if they blow the Republicans up and give the speakership to the Democrats.
The median GOP voter is not a personality driven rube motivated entirely by owning the libs.
There’s a percentage of people activated by this type of pro wrestling mindset, but for the majority, this is just that the media put in front of them wants us to be.
Gaetz is counting on people ignoring Hannity, Brian Kilmeade, Jack Posobiec, MTG, and Trump himself.
I think his instincts are correct.
People voted for Trump not because they loved his personality but because they were in pain from 30 years of criminal neglect by their leaders. They wanted change from Trump and they didn’t get it, just like they voted for change with Obama and didn’t get it.
